Biography
Simeon Anthony Pereira was born on October 19, 1927 in the city of Sukkum, British India. After graduating from high school, St. Patrick in Karachi entered the Higher Theological Seminary in Kandy , Sri Lanka . On August 24, 1951 he was ordained a priest , after which he worked as secretary of the Archbishop of Karachi, James Cornelius van Miltenburg .
Since 1952, he worked as an assistant to the rector at the elementary seminary of St. Pius X in Quetta . He later worked in the parishes of St. Francis of Assisi and St. John in Karachi. After the Second Vatican Council, together with the priest Liberius Peters, he worked on translating the Catholic liturgy into Urdu .
July 3, 1971 Simeon Anthony Pereira was appointed titular bishop of Badia and auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Rawalpindi (today - Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi ). On October 7, 1971, Simeon Anthony Pereira was ordained bishop. December 17, 1973 was appointed ordinar of the diocese of Rawalpindi.
March 22, 1993 was appointed auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Karachi. On February 11, 1994, he took over the Ordinary of the Archdiocese of Karachi. November 20, 2002 Simeon Anthony Pereira resigned and served as chaplain of the Dominican convent.
