Biography

From childhood he was fond of circus and theater. He participated in the entreprise of K. N. Nezlobin.

He was on the acting exchange in Moscow. Participated in the performances of the troupe A. A. Kruchinina ( Sarapul, Vyatka province). Then - a service in the entreprise of N. E. Ablov, D. N. Basmanov, E. N. Istomina, S. I. Krylova, Z. A. Malinovskaya, A. T. Polyakova, N. N. Sinelnikova, M. I Fate.

In 1907-1908 and 1914-1917 he played in Moscow theaters, in 1913-1916 - the actor and director of the Nikolaev Nizhny Novgorod Drama Theater ( Nizhny Novgorod , now the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Drama Theater named after M. Gorky ).

Before the revolution, he was also an actor in several provincial theaters.

In 1922-1923 he played on the stage of the Theater of the Revolution (now - the Vladimir Mayakovsky Moscow Academic Theater ).

In 1927-1929 he was the chief director and actor of the First Soviet Drama Theater named after Comrade Lunacharsky (now the Krasnodar Academic Drama Theater named after Gorky).

In 1934-1935 - the main director of the Dnepropetrovsk Russian Drama Theater. Gorky .

In 1966 he played on the stage of the Yerevan Russian Drama Theater .

Wife - Valeria Drag-Sumarokova , People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR.
