Cantine Lungarotti is a winery located in Umbria and operating in Torgiano and Montefalco .
The company was born in Torgiano in 1962 on the initiative of Giorgio Lungarotti, who, in accordance with the most innovative enological trends, developed local winemaking, in some cases reviving vineyards that suffered during the phylloxera epidemic at the end of the 19th century. He introduced new varieties and experimented with new production systems in both vineyards and wineries [1] .
After receiving recognition (the first winery in Umbria and the fifth in Italy received DOC status in 1968 for Rosso and Bianco di Torgiano wines, and in 1990 DOCG status for Torgiano rosso riserva) Lungarotti winery enters the international market.
Of particular importance is the important contribution in the field of culture, as a result of which a museum complex was built in Torgiano, including the Museum of Lungarotti Wine (Museo del vino) and the Museum of Olive Tree and Olive Oil (Museo dell'olivo e dell'olio) in the management of the fund dedicated to the study and development of wine culture in Italy [2] . Recently, Lungarotti's wineries have expanded their range of activities, thanks to the winery in Montefalco, which produces such brands as Rosso locale and Sagrantino [3] .
