Club career

Born in Torreon, Mares graduated from the Santos Laguna local football academy. He was included in the application of the main team for the spring stage of the season - Clausura 2006, but he had to wait for a debut for six months, when on October 15, 2006, in the match against Haguares Chiapas , coach Daniel Guzman released Osmar on the field. After winning the 2008 Clausura Championship, Mares becomes the team’s main defender.

Mares was included in the application of the youth team of Mexico at the Youth World Championships 2007 in Canada . In the only match he played in the tournament, against the youth team of New Zealand, Osmar scored an important goal and helped the Mexicans to win, 2-1 [5] .
