In the second round of the tournament, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Milos Raonich played the longest set in the history of Olympic tournaments . Having completed the fight after 48 games, they improved the previous achievement by 10 games. The achievement on the maximum number of games played per match was also improved. [1] Achievement, however, was surpassed the very next day, [2] however, the Frenchman and Canadians maintained their record for single-player tournaments.

Later, in the semifinals, Roger Federer and Juan Martin del Potro held the third record match: playing a shorter third set, they nevertheless broke the tournament record for the duration of the match, ending the fight 4 hours 26 minutes after it started. [3] Along the way, this match was a record long among all three-set matches of the professional men's tour in the Open Era .
