Biography
Magda Schneider is the daughter of installer Xavarius Schneider and his wife Maria, nee Mayer-Herman. Magda’s childhood and youth passed in Augsburg. After graduating from a Catholic school for girls and a commercial school, Magda worked as a stenographer at a grain trading company. In addition, Magda Schneider studied singing at the Augsburg Conservatory named after Leopold Mozart and ballet at the city theater of Augsburg. Magda's debut on the stage took place in the Augsburg theater in the role of a subtree and in the Munich State Theater. Ernst Mariska invited Magda Schneider to work in a theater in Vienna .
In 1930, Magda Schneider began her film career as telephonists and typing secretaries. In many films, Magda performed a lot of songs that became hits. On the set of the film in 1933, Magda met her future husband, actor Wolf Albach-Retty . Their wedding took place in Berlin . Two children were born in marriage - the daughter of Rosemary ( Romy ) and Wolf-Dieter (born 1941). Spouses separated according to different sources in 1945, 1946 or 1949.
After the Second World War, Magda Schneider earned her tours and participation in national concerts, because she was not invited to the cinema at that time. In 1948, Magda Schneider starred in his first post-war film "The House should be a man." In the early 1950s, Magda received many offers from movie films. In 1953, Magda Schneider starred with her daughter Romy in the movie " When White Lilac Blossoms ". The actress paid attention mainly to the career of her daughter, with whom she starred in several films, including “The Young Years of the Queen” , “March for the Emperor” and “Sissi” .
In 1953, Magda Schneider married Cologne restaurateur Hans Herbert Blatzheim, who died in 1968. From 1982 until her death, Magda Schneider was married to the cameraman Horst Felhaber. The last teleworking of the actress dates back to the late 1960s. The last years of her life she lived in the Bavarian Schönau am Konigssee , where she was buried in the Highland Cemetery.
