Biography
Early years
Born in the Swedish city of Malmo . Father is Romanian, mother is Swedish. Engaged in music at the age of 11, playing drums with his younger brother. He performed covers with his friends on well-known rock compositions, and also worked with a music teacher at school. Adrian created his first musical group called “Penance” together with his friends, and although they wrote several songs, they didn’t manage to release even a demo album.
At the Gates (1990-1996, 2007-2011)
In 1988, Erlandsson entered the University of Gothenburg, and two years later he was casting to the Swedish death metal band At the Gates . He was a drummer in the group right up to its collapse and was remembered by the tough drumming technique, which made an excellent impression on fans and caused respect from other musicians [1] . In 2007, the band reunited to give several concerts as part of the Suicidal Final Tour .
The Haunted (1996-1999)
Together with his brothers Anders and Jonas Bierler, Adrian created the new band The Haunted , in which Peter Dolving from Mary Beats Jane was the vocalist. At the same time, Erlandsson played in the Skitsystem and Nifelheim groups (there he was considered to be high-class drummers, but, according to the musicians, he did not always have time to notice and play the most important moments of the compositions). In 1999, Adrian was casting in the black metal band Cradle of Filth , however, he was immediately dismissed from Nifelheim: on the black scene, “Cradle of Filth” had a bad reputation, and in Nifelheim they were treated to it if not from deep hatred, then with contempt [2] .
Cradle of Filth (1999-2006)
As part of the British band Cradle of Filth, Erlandsson worked for seven years, taking part in recording six albums (he considers Thornography to be the best of these albums). In November 2006, it was reported that Adrian was leaving the group: he wanted to concentrate on his new projects Needleye and Nemgain [3]
Other projects (2006 — current century. )
In March 2006, Ermöldsson created the Nemhain project, which played music in the style of early melodic death metal. Initially performing the solo guitar parts, Adrian became a drummer again in the band. In the spring of 2008, he recorded the first album of the group From the Ashes , which went on sale in April 2009.
In the spring of the same 2006, Adrian began work in a new project, Needleye, with whom he released a single album, Ode to None (after recording the album, the project was disbanded). In September, Adrian appeared in the Mexican death metal band Brujeria under the pseudonym "El Podrigo" (with Spanish - "Rotten"), with which he performed at concerts in Spain (currently the group is preparing to release a new album).
In 2007, Adrian took part in the recording of the drums of the album Heiliges Herz - das Schwert deiner Sonne of the German group Samsas Traum , having played at several concerts of the group. In the same year, he was part of another Swedish band Netherbird , recording drums for the mini-album Lighthouse Eternal (Laterna Magika) and for the albums The Ghost Collector (2008) and Monument Black Colossal (2010). In late 2007, he participated in recording drums for three mini-albums of the London group Green River Project .
In 2008, Adrian appeared in the group Deathstars , speaking at their concerts in Europe to warm up with the group Korn . He took part in the recording of the album Night Electric Night , appearing on the single of the same name. A year later, Erlandsson invited the black metal band Code, for which he recorded the album Resplendent Grotesque . In 2010, he joined the group Martyr Lucifer to record the album Farewell to Graveland , which was released a year later. March 16, 2009 became a member of the British group Paradise Lost [4] , with whom he recorded two longplays Tragic Idol (2012) and The Plague Within (2015). However, due to employment in other groups, among which his “relatives” At the gates were most noticeable, Adrian occasionally missed some Paradise Lost shows, where he was replaced by other drummers (for example, former Paradise Lost drummer Jeff Singer). On June 14, 2016, on his Facebook page, Adrian wrote that he was leaving Paradise Lost.
