Theodor Hartig ( Theodor Hartig ; 1805-1880) - German forester and teacher. The son of a German arborist Georg Hartig (1764-1837). He gained respectable fame for his writings in various departments of forest sciences, forest botany, and plant physiology.

Biography
After practical forestry training, having completed a course at the University of Berlin and served as a forester for two years, Gartig was appointed in 1831 as an assistant professor at the same university. Seven years later he joined the Braunschweig service, remaining almost forty years (1838-1877) as the head and professor of the forest department at the Polytechnic School there and a member of the central forest administration.
