Biography
He studied in Basel, received his degree in Strasbourg, where in 1618 he became professor of medicine and botany. He studied zoophytes , nutrition issues and mental illness.
In honor of him, Linnaeus named one species of the Indian plant Paederota ageria from the Norian family. Of the many works of Ager the most important are: “Disputatio de Zoophytis” (Strasb., 1625), “De anima vegetativa” (Strasb., 1629).
