Bzhovskaya, Jadwiga

Jadwiga Bzowska ( Polish Jadwiga Brzowska , sometimes Bzowska Mezhan , French Méjean ; 1830 , Warsaw - 1886 , Paris ) - Polish pianist.

Daughter and student of the composer Jozef Bzhovsky . She made her solo concert in Warsaw in 1840 , at the age of 10, after which she regularly performed in various Polish cities: in particular, in 1843 she gave a concert from the works of Liszt and Thalberg at the University of Breslau . In the 1850s she performed in Germany, Belgium, England, France [1] ; at the turn of the 1850-60s. for three years she taught in New Orleans (it is known that she first performed the music of Frederic Chopin in the city [2] ). There she married the French consul Count Eugene Mezhan, but this marriage quickly broke up. In 1861 , she returned to Europe and settled in Brussels , making a certain contribution to the successful reception in Belgium of the works of her father.
