Born and raised in But Creek, Michigan , USA .
After school, he participated in the stage production of Beverly Hills, and later worked in the summer at The Barn Theater with Tom Vopat. After that, he moved to Chicago , where he studied acting at Second City and Improv Olympic and became a member of Second City National Touring Company. He performed at the Chicago Comedy Festival and is one of the founders of the GOC improvisation group
