Biography
Edward Charles James Garder was born on August 24, 1924 in Newmarket ( Suffolk County, England , United Kingdom ) to the family of jockey Teddy Gardner.
During World War II, Gardner served in the Royal Air Force of Great Britain as an air gunner with squadron No. 10 . He made 30 missions as a rear gunner " Handley Page Halifax " and was awarded the medal "For flying combat service" .
Before starting his acting career in 1954, Gardner was the personal driver of playwright John Osborne .
During his 51-year-old acting career, which lasted from 1954–2005, Gardner has played in 100 films and television series. One of his most famous roles - bus driver Ernie from the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) - he played a year before the end of his career and 6 years before his death.
He died on May 3, 2010 in London ( England , UK ) from pneumonia at the age of 85.
