Antiphonale missarum sextuplex (AMS) (lat. Letters. Sixfold anti-flashlight of the Mass) is a scientific publication (anthology) of the most ancient liturgical singing books containing songs of the Mass .
Content
General characteristics
The publication was made by the Solem monk-researcher René Esber in 1935. All sources were compiled in the centers of the Carolingian spiritual culture in the north-west of the Frankish state (the territory of present-day northern France and Belgium ) at the end of the 8th and 9th centuries; contain only lyrics, no musical notation .
The words “antiphonary of the mass” in the most ancient liturgical tradition denoted a singing book, which later received the name Graduala . The book, now known simply as the anti-flashlight , in the same tradition was called the “anti- flashlight of office ” (antiphonalium officii).
