Biography
Ivan Rovinsky took part in the first elections to the Melitopol City Council in the spring of 1873, and was elected one of 42 vowels, receiving 14 votes in favor and 12 against. At that time he had the rank of college secretary .
In 1878, Melitopol Mayor Ivan Ivanovich Kulikovsky died, and Ivan Rovinsky became the new Mayor.
In the January 28, 1882 election, Ivan Rovinsky’s rival was Nikon Klimovich Korotky, and Rovinsky was re-elected by a majority of the votes.
On December 10, 1885, the Melitopol City Council elected the college secretary Ivan Rovinsky as City Mayor for a third four-year term, and on January 7, 1886, the Tauride Governor officially approved him.
Having served his third term at the post of the Melitopol mayor, Ivan Rovinsky resigned on September 20, 1890, at a meeting of the City Duma. Ivan Egorovich Chernikov was elected the new Mayor.
In 1906, Leonid Ivanovich Rovinsky , probably the son of Ivan Prokofievich, was elected the mayor of Melitopol.
