In 2009-2010, the area was reconstructed, and therefore half of the funds for improvement were received from the European Regional Development Fund.
The ensemble of the square is crowned with the historic building of the city library with the donated to the city in 1924 by (designers and Armas Lindgren ) and renovated in 2010.
