It is located 16 km from the Kolchugino district center, on the right bank of the Peksha River, with an altitude of 131 m above sea level [3] . The nearest settlements are almost creeping from the north of Zavalino , half a kilometer to the north-east of Lavreniha and 1 km to the west - Tyukhtovo .

In the village there is a post office [4] , a library, a branch of the Kolchuginsky Central District Hospital [5] , a rural house of culture, a timber industry enterprise [6] . In Vishnev there is a 19th century manor "Zavalino" [7] .

Recently, the dairy industry has been restored. The former Rabochiy state farm was re-equipped and transformed into a legal entity of Rabochy LLC, successfully supplying locally produced whole milk to trading enterprises. [8]
