Biography

He studied medicine and natural sciences in Freiburg , after which he was appointed an assistant at the zoological museum of this university, and since 1846, at the same time, he has lectured in zoology , zootomy and mineralogy, and has also practiced medicine. In 1854, he was appointed extraordinary professor of mineralogy and director of the mineralogical-geological museum in Freiburg, in 1859 - ordinary professor. In the first years of his scientific activity, Fisher was primarily engaged in entomology, and during this period his classic work, Orthoptera europaea (Lpc, 1853), appeared, containing a systematic description of European orthoptera. Subsequently, Fisher engaged exclusively in mineralogy, and in particular contributed to the introduction of the microscopic method in the finest study of minerals. In the early seventies, Fischer, together with professor of anatomy, Prehistoric Ethnographic Museum in Freiburg (Baden). During this period, there appeared his works concerning the mineralogical study of stone tools, etc.
