Karkaraly National Park

Karkaraly State National Natural Park ( Kazakh. Karagaraly memlekettik Alttyқ Tabiғi Parki ) is a national park of Kazakhstan located in the Karaganda region . It is among the specially protected natural territories of Kazakhstan . The environmental value of the region is due to the diversity of landscapes that is exceptional for Central Kazakhstan.

Organized by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 212 dated December 1, 1998 . By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On some issues of certain specially protected natural territories of the Karaganda region” dated February 6, 2009 No. 122, the park was expanded from 90,323 hectares to 112,120 hectares.

Content

Flora

 

The main tree species : pine , birch , aspen , willow , juniper . A feature of the flora is the large presence of relict plants of the ice age , rare and endangered plant species - 66 species.

Plants listed in the Red Book : Karkaraly barberry , sphagnum moss .

Fauna

2 species of amphibians , 6 species of reptiles , 40 species of mammals and about 114 species of birds .

Climate

 
 

The climate of the Karkaraly National Park is more temperate than in the surrounding area. The average annual air temperature is 2 degrees Celsius. In July, it averages +18, +20 degrees, in January −12, −15 degrees.

Archaeological sites

A large number of archaeological monuments from different eras are known on the territory of the Kent Mountains [1] :

  • The Kent settlement dates back to the era of the final bronze. Here dwellings, religious buildings and remnants of the ancient metallurgical complex were investigated. The large size of the settlement, as well as a number of other signs allow Kent to be considered the proto-city. The settlement belongs to begazy-dandybay culture . [2]
  • Kyzylkent Palace - the remains of a XVII century Buddhist monastery. [3] [4]
  • The Taldy II burial ground , in which a large number of gold products was found, is located at the foot of the Kent Mountains.
  • Less well-known monuments: the burial site of the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age Enbek-Suygush, the settlement of the Bronze Age Dongal [5] , the Neolithic-Bronze Age Domalactas settlement, etc. [6]
