Joseph L. Votel ( born Joseph L. Votel ) (born February 14, 1958, St. Paul , Minnesota ) - American military, general of the United States . From June 2011 to August 2014, he was the head of the Special Operations Directorate (USO) of the State University of Specialization . Since August 2014 - Commander-in-Chief of the Special Forces Command / Chief of the Main Directorate of the Special Forces of the United States Department of Defense Since April 2016 - the head of the command of the US armed forces in the Middle East.
