Biography
Robert Graham was born in Sterling on December 3, 1786 [3] [4] .
After studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Glasgow, he practiced for several years in Glasgow [3] . In 1820, Graham became a professor of botany at the University of Edinburgh, and also became a physician at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh [3] . As a professor of botany, he achieved fair success, and the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh thrived thanks to his care [3] . Graham published a number of botanical works, mainly describing new species, in Edinburgh New Philosophical Magazine , Curtis's Botanical Magazine , and Companion to the Botanical Magazine [3] . Robert Graham made a significant contribution to botany by describing many plant species [6] . Among the plants he described was the Australian shrub Lasiopetalum macrophyllum [7] .
Robert Graham died in Perthshire on August 7, 1845 [3] [4] after a long illness [3] .
