It is a part of the Podlesny rural settlement [1] , from the point of view of administrative-territorial division - into the Podlesny rural council.
The distance by road to the district center of Vologda is 19 km, to the center of the municipal entity Ogarkovo - 6 km. The nearest settlements are Lisitsyno , Yeltsino , Burlevo , Babikovo , Mostishcha , Andreevskoye , Volkovo , Kozino .
Until December 26, 2001, Kharachevo had village status [2] .
According to the 2002 census, the population was 745 (337 men, 408 women). The predominant nationality is Russians (99%) [3] .
