Geographical position
Lebedinsky district is located in the south of Sumy region of Ukraine . Sumy , Belopolsky , Nedrigaylovsky , Lipovodolinsky , Trostyanetsky , Ahtyrsky districts of Sumy region and Gadyachsky district of Poltava region adjoin with him.
The administrative center of the district is the city of Lebedin , which is not part of the district.
The rivers Psel , Olshanka , Grun , Legan , Revki , Lozovaya , Budlyk flow through the region.
Population
In 1980, the population of the district was 72.5 thousand people [2] .
According to the 2001 All-Ukrainian Population Census , the population was 27,868 people.
As of January 1, 2013, the population of the city was 21,080 people [3] .
History
As an administrative-territorial unit, the Lebedinsky district was created in 1923 on the basis of the Lebedinsky district of the Kharkov province , in February 1932 the district became part of the Kharkov region, after the establishment on January 10, 1939 of the Sumy region the area became part of the Sumy region.
In 1957 the Shtepovsky District became part of the Lebedinsky District.

Attractions
- Hydrological sight of nature of national importance - " Shelekhovskoye lake ". Located 15 km from Lebedin, near the village. Mezhirich . It was formed in the ice age as a result of shifts of the earth's crust, the shores of the lake, surrounded by natural forest.
- In Lebedinsky district there is a picturesque village of Tokari, located on the banks of the Psyol River, in which the Tokari sanatorium and a mineral water deposit are located.
- Novotroitsk site of ancient settlement , remains of Seversky settlement of 8–9th centuries. near the village of Novotroitskoye.
