Member of the Polish uprising of 1830 .
Biography
He studied law at the University of Warsaw, Polish Kingdom of Russia . A few days before graduation, he was arrested for resisting the police and was detained for more than a month. By order of Konstantin Pavlovich, he was expelled from the university with a ban on working in public institutions.
For participation in the Union of Free Poles in 1823-1824 he was imprisoned.
In the years 1825-1830 he worked in the editorial offices of newspapers and magazines Dziennik Warszawski, Izyda Polska, Gazeta Polska , Kurier Polski, as well as in the Commission of the Interior and the censorship department.
In 1829, he participated in a conspiracy (terrorist) under the leadership of P. Vysotsky with the aim of killing the Russian emperor Nicholas I.
In 1830-1831 - a member of the radical democratic wing of the Polish liberation movement. Member of the November Uprising of 1830-1831. After the uprising, he organized the "Club of Revolutionaries", was in opposition to F. Drutsky-Lyubetsky . At the very beginning of 1831 he created the magazine Nowa Polska.
He enlisted as a volunteer in the illegal Polish rebel army and took part in the battle of Grokhov as an ordinary soldier. He was injured in the arm and leg. Healing wounds fought with Russian troops under Okunev, Waver , Dlugosedl and near Ostroleka . In the battle of Ostroleka he was wounded four times.
One of the organizers of the Patriotic Society. After the defeat of the uprising, he emigrated to France. Collaborated with the Lambert Hotel , headed by Adam Jerzy Czartoryski .
He performed as a pianist.
Creativity
The author of a number of journalistic works and articles. The main work, “The Uprising of the Polish People in 1830 and 1831” (Pol. “Powstanie narodu polskiego w roku 1830 and 1831”), published in France in 1834 with a detailed description of the events of those years.
Maurice Mokhnatsky is one of the theorists of early Polish romanticism . He wrote works on 19th-century Polish literature. He considered the creation of his own Polish literature as a condition for the existence of a nation.
As a music critic, he was primarily involved in the works of Chopin , N. Paganini , M. Shimanovskaya and others.
He died in exile in France.
