Dmitrov Drama Theater "Big Nest"

In 1967, an amateur theater group was formed in Dmitrov , which in 1991 was established by the decision of the head of the Dmitrov district as the Municipal Drama Theater. In 1992, the theater opened its first season with a vaudeville by V. Sollogub “Trouble from a Tender Heart”. In 1995, the theater became one of the founders of the Association of Municipal Theaters and is a regular participant in the festivals of this association. In 2005, a young director Dmitry Yumashev was invited to the post of artistic director. The cast replenished with bright young talents.

During its existence, the troupe of the theater has achieved tremendous success in the development of theatrical art. This is noted by spectators, eminent theatrical figures and critics. The Big Nest is a welcome guest at numerous theater festivals at various levels. “Grand Prix” in Lobny, “Grand Prix” in Dolgoprudny, “Special Prize” in Mytishchi, “Best Festival Performance” in Dolgoprudny, Diploma “For the Creation of the Russian Epic” - Simferopol, “For Fidelity to Russian Classics” in Lobny, "The best acting ensemble" in Tambov, Energodar, etc. Theater actors win awards for vividly created roles, these are diplomas “For the Best Role”, “Supporting Role”, and “Impressive Acting Ensemble”.

The theater puts at the head of its artistic aspirations an acting ensemble, a true penetration into the inner world of heroes, into the psychology of personality, it seeks to show a living person from the stage, with his sincere feelings. In the characters, the images of which are created by theater artists, in action and in the conflicts declared in the productions, viewers will recognize the world today, and sometimes themselves. This suggests that the theater is modern, keeps up to date and its performances are relevant.

The theater is included in the register of leading cultural institutions of Russia ^[1] .

The name of the theater is associated with the history of the Dmitrov region. In 1154, Rostov-Suzdal Prince Yuri Dolgoruky named the city in honor of the born son Dmitry, who went down in the history of Russia under the name Vsevolod the Big Nest .
