Gameplay
In addition to the main weapon, which was also in the cartoon, a gas pistol , there are various types of “superweapons”. At the end of each of the player's levels, a battle is expected with one of the enemies of the Black Cloak: Quag, Wulfdak, Likvigad, Busrut, Megavolt, Moliarty and Steel Beak.
Bonus Levels
At each level, there are also two secret bonuses, the location of which is indicated by the icons with the inscription "GO". Having knocked out an icon and jumping on it, the player gets to the level where you need to shoot down flying objects and pick up useful objects - these, according to Edgar Kluver, who appears before the start, jewelry and other valuables stolen by the criminal.
Canceled sequel
In 2019, Headcannon's Sonic Mania developers released a video that they made for the alternative world of Capcom. The new Darkwing Duck was retro-styled SNES or GBA . It was planned to attract scriptwriters of the animated series. However, the publisher rejected this concept [3] .

According to critics, the game received generally positive reviews, according to the aggregator ratings MobyGames [4] .
According to the review of " Gambling ", an engine from Mega Man 5 was chosen for Darkwing Duck - only heroes and decorations were fixed in it. The absence of passwords opening the levels annoyed the parents: if the child sat behind the Cloak, then he was at the screen for hours. In the afternoon, he watched on TV how Crack Lapchaty defeated the next criminal, and in the evening he inserted a cartridge into the console and went through the game to the stop. A duck in a raincoat with a gas pistol - I wanted to repeat this cultural program every day. Moreover, the games on other Disney series left much to be desired: about Chip and Dale it was good, but Duck Tales was considered girlish fun, and they completely forgot about Goofy . Therefore, the “Black Cloak” remained in memory along with the song “Just whistle - he will appear!” And the exclamation “From the screw!” ( Let's get dangerous! ) [7] .
The Life article emphasizes that the platformer about the adventures of the Black Cloak as a whole repeats the success of other games created from Disney cartoons - about Aladdin , the Lion King , Chip and Dale. Darkwing Duck turned out to be more popular in Russia than in Europe and the USA. No sequels , prequels and spin-offs were issued. Unfortunately, the game has now been forgotten, and in many ways it is the fault of its publisher Capcom . The company preferred to develop other series - Mega Man and Ghosts'n Goblins , but the emergency remained out of work [8] .
