At the age of ten, on March 22, 1764, he entered the Artillery Cadet Corps , after which on January 1, 1771 he was released as second lieutenant to the 1st Cannonier Regiment; July 14, 1773 transferred as a teacher to the Artillery Cadet Corps. On November 19, 1775 he was a lieutenant , on November 7, 1781 he was a captain , and on March 13, 1789 he was a major, and in this rank he took over a cadet company. In the same year, on August 1, he was appointed teacher of artillery and fortification in the Page Corps. Here, on June 28, 1794, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel , on November 15, 1796, into colonel , on January 11, 1797, into brigadier , and on June 4 of that year he was granted the rank of major general .

Paul I tried to give the Page Corps a more military look; under him, a provision was drawn up on the Page Corps and the procedure for serving in the pages at the Highest Court , but Paul I did not have time to approve it. It was already approved by Alexander I , in the days of the coronation of which the Page Corps consisted of 4 departments: the first - one chamber-page and 11 pages , the second - 6 chamber-pages and 5 pages, the third - 4 chamber-pages and 7 pages, the fourth - 12 pages. The director of the corps at that time was F.S. He occupied this position until 1802, when he was dismissed during the reform reforms of Alexander I [1] , who wanted to give the Page Corps the final look of a military educational institution: to see pupils studying science and receiving a military education in their pages, rather than young men serving at court.
