Biography
Born on August 29, 1922 in the city of Semipalatinsk ( Kazakhstan ) in a working class family. Russian. He lived and studied in the city of Tashkent ( Uzbekistan ). He graduated from 10 classes.
He was drafted into the Red Army by the Frunze district military enlistment office of the city of Tashkent in July 1941. In 1941, an accelerated training course was held at the Tashkent Military Infantry Red Banner School named after V.I. Lenin.
Member of the Great Patriotic War since September 1941. In 1942 he graduated from the Ryazan Infantry School named after K.E. Voroshilov. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944.
Rifle company commander of the 17th Guards Mechanized Brigade (6th Guards Mechanized Corps, 4th Tank Army, 1st Ukrainian Front) Guards Senior Lieutenant Alexander Solomatin was among the first in the brigade on the night of January 25, 1945 under the fierce fire of the enemy crossed the Oder at the village of Köben (now Khobenia , Poland ). The company captured the bridgehead on the opposite bank and held it until the main forces of the 17th Guards Mechanized Red Banner Order of the Suvorov Brigade approached.
In this battle, paratroopers destroyed about 60 enemy soldiers and officers, captured 20 prisoners and 16 light machine guns.
The next day, January 26, 1945, a company under the command of the guard of senior lieutenant Alexander Solomatin repulsed eight enemy counterattacks.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown, Senior Lieutenant Solomatin Alexander Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .
A.I. Solomatin died in battle on March 18, 1945. He was buried in the village of Radzikowice, northwest of the town of Nysa , Poland .
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star, medals, including “For Courage”.
In high school number 89 of the city of Tashkent, where he studied, a monument was erected to him. From the beginning of the 1950s to the mid-2000s, the name of A. I. Solomatin was street in Tashkent (now the street of Academician S. Mirakhmedov).
