Daudov, Abdulla Khamidovich

Abdullah Khamidovich Daudov ( December 3, 1952 , Jalal-Abad Oblast , Kirghiz SSR ) was a Soviet and Russian historian. Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. Since May 2012 - Dean of the Faculty of History, since April 28, 2014 - Director of the Institute of History of St. Petersburg State University , Head of the Department of History of Peoples of the CIS countries, former President of the “Vainakh Congress” - the Chechen diaspora of St. Petersburg .

Biography

Born into a Chechen family, deported to Central Asia in 1944 . Father - Hamid Daudovich Misirpashayev, philologist, honored teacher of Russia , excellent public education. Mother - Tamara Usmanovna, housewife. In 1957, when A. Kh. Daudov was 5 years old, his family returned to their homeland - to the Chechen-Ingush ASSR .

In 1970, he graduated from the Sayasanov secondary school with a gold medal and became a student at the Chechen-Ingush University named after Leo Tolstoy , from where in 1973 he was transferred to full-time department of the Faculty of History of Leningrad University . He graduated from the faculty in 1975. Since then, Daudov has been living and working in Leningrad - St. Petersburg. In 1984 he defended his thesis on the topic “Education and Development of the Mountain ASSR. 1920-1924 Problems of national-state construction " [1] . In 1998 he defended his doctoral thesis "The socio-economic development of the Mountain ASSR (1920-1924)" [2] .

From 1979 to 1986, he worked at the Leningrad Hydrometeorological Institute, first as an assistant and then as a senior lecturer and associate professor. Since 1986 he has been teaching at the Faculty of History of St. Petersburg State University. Since 2011, he headed the new department created on his own initiative - the department of the history of the peoples of the CIS countries , before that he worked at the department of history of management and entrepreneurship. In October 2011, he became the Acting Dean of the Faculty of History, in May 2012, he was approved by the Academic Council in this position. In 2010, he became a member of the Advisory Council for the Affairs of National-Cultural Associations under the Government of St. Petersburg.

April 28, 2014 was appointed by the order of the rector to the post of Director of the Institute of History of St. Petersburg State University [3] [4] .

In 2015, he was awarded the Silver Owl Award, established by the regional public organization Intellectual Center of the Chechen Republic . The award was awarded for a significant contribution to the development of the spiritual, educational and cultural life of the republic [5] .

Vainakh Congress

A special place in the life of A. Kh. Daudov was occupied by relations with the Chechen people. In his own words, interest in Chechens arose in Daudov from childhood [6] , and intensified in the 1990s, when "they showed various events taking place in the Chechen Republic." Against the background of the Chechen war, relations between Russians and Chechens, according to the historian, went wrong. The goal of A. Kh. Daudov was to maintain peace between the Russian and Chechen population of St. Petersburg. In 2004, A. Kh. Daudov was elected president of the organization “Vainakh congress” - the Chechen diaspora of St. Petersburg and remained in office until 2008.

As president of the congress, Daudov was also involved in organizing cultural events for the Chechen community, which traditionally took place within the walls of the university and various houses of culture in St. Petersburg. Exhibitions of Chechen artists Said Bitsiraev, Lechi and Sultan Abaev became famous events in the cultural life of St. Petersburg. During the period of leadership of the Chechen community, Abdullah Daudov tried to do everything possible to make the Chechens of St. Petersburg feel comfortable in the Russian city, helping to improve their attitude to the Chechens, their culture and mentality as a whole, the revival of goodwill and respect for the Chechen people [6] .

In 2010 he became a member of the Advisory Council for the Affairs of National-Cultural Associations under the Government of St. Petersburg [7] .

Scientific Activities

The circle of scientific interests of A. Kh. Daudov is the history of the peoples of the North Caucasus, the problems of national-state building and the interethnic relations of the peoples of our country.

He is the chairman of the annual International Scientific Conference "Actual problems of the theory and history of art"

Personal life

Married Wife - Eliza Adlanovna Daudova. He has a son Timerlan and a daughter Tamil. He is fond of drawing and car navigation [8] .
