The US Grand Prix of 1961 , the last stage of the 1961 World Championship in Formula 1 class. Held at Watkins Glen on October 8, 1961 . After three years of wandering, the US Grand Prix finally found its home, thanks to Cameron Argetsinger .

The first row started with pole holder Jack Brabham and Graham Hill, who showed the second time. In the second starting row, Stirling Moss and Bruce McLaren are located . From the first round, Moss and Brab began to fight for the first place. However, on the 57th lap, due to overheating of the engine, Black Jack stopped, and on the 58th, Moss came down, also with a failed engine. Innes Ireland became the leader, starting the eighth. But he was quickly overtaken by Roy Salvadori at Cooper, however, he was not destined to finish, 4 laps before the finish, his engine also stopped. So Ireland won his first and only victory, ahead of Dan Gurney by 4 seconds and Tony Brooks by 49 seconds.
It is noteworthy that the American Phil Hill who became the champion of the previous grand prix could become the main star of the home grand prix, but Enzo Ferrari refused to take part in the grand prix after the death of team leader Wolfgang von Trips . Then Cameron appointed Hill as honorary judge.
