According to the Regulation, the Border Guard Service is headed by the Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the Director of the Border Guard Service, appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the proposal of the Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In June 2012, Major General Nurzhan Myrzaliev, Director of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was relieved of his post after the events at the Arkankergen border post of the Ucharal border detachment located in eastern Kazakhstan. ^[1] Colonel Turganbek Stambekov, who died in a plane crash on December 25, 2012, was appointed Acting Director of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

January 15, 2013 Nurlan Dzhulamanov was appointed Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Director of the Border Service. ^[2]

On October 27, 2014, the KNB press service announced the detention of Dzhulamanov on suspicion of abuse of power ^[3] .

Jumalanov was sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property with life deprivation of the right to hold responsible and managerial positions in the public service with the sentence being served in a maximum security penal colony. The court also decided to introduce the president of the country about the deprivation of Dzhulamanov military rank of lieutenant general and state awards.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 30, 2011 No. 155 “On issues of state symbols and heraldry of departmental and other awards of some state bodies directly subordinate to and accountable to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and law enforcement agencies, courts, Armed Forces, other troops and military units ” ^[3] departmental rewards of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan are considered:
