Biography
He was born on October 16, 1903 in Serdobol , in the Grand Duchy of Finland.
In 1923 he graduated from the Finnish Lyceum in Vyborg . From 1923 to 1930 he studied at the veterinarian at the schools of Hanover , Tartu and Vienna . He received funding for his education, working from 1924 to 1930 as a correspondent for the Suomen Kuvalehti newspaper.
From 1930 to 1945 he worked as a district veterinarian in Vetel and Kokkola , and from 1932 as a municipal veterinarian of the Sysmä community. From 1945 to 1950 he worked as a municipal veterinarian of the Muonio community.
Since 1950, he began his career as a writer and illustrator of his own works. The most famous work of the writer is the tale " Pessie and Illusion " (1944). In 1956, the writer was awarded the State Prize and the Pro Finlandia Medal.
He died on September 6, 1977 in Helsinki ; buried with his wife in a cemetery in Lempäälä .
