He began his studies in music at the age of 11 as a cellist, from the age of 16 he was engaged in conducting. He graduated from Manchester College of Music and University of Leicester, studied with Norman del Mar and John Caroo , studied at the Chigi Academy with Ferdinand Leitner . In 1991, he won the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition for the first time, after which he trained for a year at the Leningrad Conservatory with Ilya Musin .

In 1986, in Leicester, Constantine began his conducting career with the creation of the Bardi Orchestra - initially a chamber and then a full-length ensemble composed of professional musicians who for one reason or another refused their musical career, but were ready to take the opportunity to play music as highly qualified amateurs; Constantine directed this orchestra until 2004 [1] and in 2003 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Music honoris causa by the University of Leicester. At the same time throughout the 1990s. Constantine has performed with various British orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra ; in 1993, he, in particular, conducted a concert in memory of John Barbirolly with the performance of Sergei Prokofiev ’s cantata " Peter and the Wolf " and the widow Barbiroli Evelyn in the recital part.

In 2004 , Constantine moved to the United States, initially as the second conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Yuri Temirkanov . In 2007 , he led the Symphony Orchestra at Reading , and since 2009 has also directed the Philharmonic Orchestra at Fort Wayne .
