The Constitutional Court of Albania ( Alb. Gjykata Kushtetuese e Shqipërisë ) is the body of constitutional justice in Albania , which guarantees the observance of the Constitution and implements its official interpretation .

Content
Composition
The Constitutional Court consists of 9 members appointed for a period of 9 years without the right to re-election. Judges are appointed by the President after approval of candidates in Parliament . Every three years, one third of the staff is updated. The Chairperson is appointed by the President with the consent of the Parliament for three years.
Functions
Basic
The powers of the Constitutional Court are provided for in Article 131 of the Constitution, according to which it decides on:
- inconsistencies of laws with the Constitution or international agreements ;
- inconsistencies of the Constitution of international treaties before ratification ;
- inconsistencies of normative acts of central and local authorities with the Constitution and international agreements;
- competency disputes between higher authorities and between central and local authorities;
- the constitutionality of parties and other political organizations and their activities;
- removal from office of the President of the Republic and verification of their inability to perform their functions;
- issues related to elections and verification of voting results;
- constitutionality of the referendum and verification of its results;
- final decision on individual complaints of citizens about violations of their constitutional rights to due process after all remedies of these rights have been exhausted.

The Constitutional Court also makes decisions on constitutionality:
- decisions of the Parliament on the resignation of the President of the Republic (Article 90/3, 91/2 of the Constitution);
- decisions of the Parliament on the dismissal of a judge of the Supreme Court (Article 140 of the Constitution);
- Decisions of the Council of Ministers on the dismissal of mayors of municipalities (Article 115 of the Constitution);
- consent to criminal prosecution against a judge of the Constitutional Court (Article 126 of the Constitution) and the Supreme Court (Article 137/2 of the Constitution).
