Life Story
German by birth, was born in the city of Naples. Subsequently, the German surname Hohenberg was changed to Altomonte. Childhood and youth passed in Italy. He studied in Naples, later - in Rome. Art education in the Roman Academy of St.. Luke . Among his teachers in Rome are Giovanni Gaul and Carlo Maratta .
In 1684 - 1702 - he worked at the court of the Polish king Jan III Sobieski in Lviv and Zholkva.
Among the best works are the “ Battle of Vienna (1683) ”, “The Battle of Parkana on November 9, 1683”, “Portrait of A. Kornyakt”, “Carrying the Cross”, “The Last Supper”.
The father of the artist Bartolomeo Altomonte (1694 - 1783).
