Biography

The early years

Vladimir Evdokimov was born on August 14, 1923 in the village of Pichulevo (now the Sebezh district of the Pskov region ) into a Russian peasant family. After graduating from the 7th grade of high school, he moved to Moscow , where he studied at the Moscow Welding College.

Participation in the Great Patriotic War

In July 1941, Evdokimov volunteered to join the 4th Moscow People’s Militia Division and in October 1941 was sent to the front. Defended Moscow near the village of Troitsk-Lykovo . In December 1941 - February 1942 he participated in a counterattack near Moscow. With fights he reached almost to Rzhev , where he was wounded.

In 1943, Evdokimov graduated from the Pukhovichi Military Infantry School . He was the commander of a rifle platoon of the 36th separate cadet rifle brigade, the commander of a rifle company of the 184th rifle division. He fought on the Western and 3rd Belorussian fronts . He participated in the liberation of the Smolensk region , including the city of Vyazma , in the battles for the district center of the Mogilev region, the village of Lenino - in 1943; in battles near Orsha , in Operation Bagration , he liberated Belarus and Lithuania , including the city of Vilnius , forced the Neman and Shesupe with access to the state border with East Prussia - in 1944. Member of the CPSU since 1944.

On August 16, 1944, in the area of ​​the city of Sakiai (Lithuania), the commander of the company of the 294th rifle regiment, senior lieutenant Evdokimov, with the company repelled the enemy’s counterattack, which, with the support of the tanks, tried to regain the lost line, and inflicted heavy damage on it in manpower and equipment.

On August 17, 1944, Evdokimov’s company was one of the first to enter the state border with Germany in the area of ​​the city of Kudirkos-Naumestis (Lithuania), forcefully crossed the Shesupe River and captured the first strategically most important bridgehead on the territory of East Prussia.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the exemplary fulfillment of command tasks in the fight against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to this, Lieutenant Yevdokimov Vladimir Timofeevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 7216).

After the war

In 1945, Evdokimov graduated from the courses "Shot" , in 1950 - the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . Colonel Evdokimov worked at the V. I. Lenin Military-Political Academy ; received a Ph.D. in military sciences, became a professor. Since 1987 - retired.

He lived in Moscow. He died on January 23, 2017. He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow.

Vladimir Evdokimov was an honorary citizen of the cities of Sebezh and Shakiai . His name is the Borisen school of the Sebezh district.

He was married to Alexander Mikhailovna Evdokimova (1926-2017). The wife passed away 15 days after the death of her husband.
