FIBA Diamond Ball ( FIBA Diamond Ball ) official international basketball tournament under the auspices of FIBA . Held every year before the Olympic Games . The first tournament was held in 2000 only among men's teams, since 2004, tournaments were held for men and women.

Participants in the tournament were: the team hosting the Olympics, the world champion and the champions of intercontinental championships, excluding the men's team of the United States (if it was the champion of America). The US women's team did not participate in the 2004 tournament, despite the fact that she was the world champion, as she secured a place for herself at the 2008 Olympics, becoming the champion of America.
