E.P. Zagorulko was born on August 26, 1942 in the village of Tyrma, Khabarovsk Territory. Evgeni Zagorulko was involved in decathlon , but his own sports career ended early due to numerous injuries [1] . A 1965 graduate of the Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute [2] . In coaching since 1967.
He is the coach of Olympic champions Gennady Avdeenko , Elena Elesina , Andrey Silnov , Anna Chicherova , world athletics champions Tamara Bykova , Vyacheslav Voronin , as well as European athletics champions Denis Kapustin ( triple jump ) and Alexander Shustov [3] .
After the 2012 Olympics in London, at which his student Anna Chicherova became the Olympic champion with a result of 205 cm, and Andrei Silnov took 12th place, announced his desire to leave the coaching work [4] , but later decided to stay on coaching until the 2013 World Cup years in Moscow [5] , and then before the 2016 Olympic Games , which will be held in Rio de Janeiro [6] .
In 1983 he was awarded the title " Honored Coach of the USSR" [7] . E.P. Zagorulko is also the holder of the title “Honored Coach of the Russian Federation”. In 2002 he was awarded the Order of Friendship [8] . In 2010 - the Order of Honor [9] [10] . In 2012, he was named the "Best Trainer of the Year" in the framework of the "Sports Elite 2012" competition organized by the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) [11] . In 2013 he was awarded the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland", IV degree. [12] [13]
