Career
Yunas Froegren was drafted by Calgary in the 1998 NHL draft in the 8th round, under 206 common number. Froegren is known as a strong, solid defender. He does not score many points, but plays well at his end. He played recently with the Swedish national team in 2008 at the World Cup.
He played his entire professional career in the club of the Swedish League “Ferjestad”. He played there for seven seasons and has an impressive record, won two Swedish championships and four silver medals of the Swedish championship. The only year he did not play in the 1998–99 playoff final was when Ferjestad lost in the quarter-finals against Djurgården.
On July 9, 2008, Yunas Froegren signed a two-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL. However, the contract signed by Yunas was rejected by the NHL due to a dispute over its status.
