Team History
The team was formed on the basis of the Nizhny Novgorod Academy of Football Igor Egorov .
In January 2007, on the basis of the amateur team "Telma-Vodnik", who had previously played in the championship of the Nizhny Novgorod region , a new club was created called "Nizhny Novgorod". On May 11, 2007, the Nizhny Novgorod club Volga and FC Nizhny Novgorod entered into an agreement on joint activities, according to which players who were not part of Volga could play for FC Nizhny Novgorod. The Nizhny Novgorod team was renamed Nizhny Novgorod-Volga-D. The contract was concluded for one season; With the release of the team in the second division, the club acquired its former name.
In December 2007, Dmitry Kuznetsov , a well-known footballer, player of the USSR , CIS and Russia national teams, was appointed the new head coach of the club. However, already in February 2008, Kuznetsova was replaced by another young coach, also a participant in the 1994 World Cup , Ilya Tsymbalar .
In February 2008, FC Nizhny Novgorod passed the PFL certification procedure and was included in the participants of the Russian championship among the teams of the second division. The club management once again set a high task - to enter the top three strongest teams in the Ural-Volga region . The season "townspeople" began under the leadership of Ilya Tsymbalar. A large group of football players with experience of playing in the Premier League and First Division clubs was invited to the team. But the start of Nizhny Novgorod in the championship was not successful: bright victories alternated with annoying defeats. In June, Ilya Tsymbalar left the team for family reasons; the ex-coach of the Dzerzhinsky “ Chemist ” Salavat Galeev was invited to the post of head coach. The new mentor managed to stabilize the team’s game, and a record series of nine victories in a row brought FC Nizhny Novgorod to second place in the table. After this, having solved family problems, Tsymbalar returned to the club. Working in tandem, Galeev and Tsymbalar were able to solve the task for the season - to enter the top three.
Due to the financial crisis, a number of clubs were unable to take part in the 2009 tournament of the first division. The PFL leadership made an offer to the Nizhny Novgorod club to participate in the second most important division of Russia. In the 2009 season, FC Nizhny Novgorod took 13th place with 50 points.
A landmark event was the cup match between the St. Petersburg “Zenith”, the owner of the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup , and FC “Nizhny Novgorod” in the season 2009/2010. The first half was with the advantage of “Zenith”, which allowed them to score one goal. The second half turned out smooth, at times with a slight advantage to the townspeople. Nizhny Novgorod for some time managed to pinch the owners in their own penalty area, earning 4 corners in a row. Soon, the guests scored the ball: Maxim Zyuzin scored a goal into the “nine” goal of Malafeev from the penalty area. Most of the time ended in a draw - 1: 1. In overtime, the hosts scored a decisive goal. The match ended with the victory of FC Zenit (2: 1). Fans of FC Nizhny Novgorod broke at that time a record of away matches not only for the club, but throughout the history of Nizhny Novgorod football. At the cup match, the townspeople supported 108 people (at that time - the most massive departure in the history of Nizhny Novgorod football).
In 2010, the city administration refused to finance FC Nizhny Novgorod, and the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, headed by Valery Shantsev, took responsibility for financing the club. They were sent a guarantee letter to the PFL, and the club was able to continue its performance in the first division. The team was led by a coaching council led by the President of the club and head coach Viktor Seidenberg. As a result, the team spent the best season in its history, and having gained 21 victories in 38 matches, took third place in the tournament of the first division. The team lagged behind the winner of the Krasnodar Kuban tournament by 10 points and by 1 point from Volga FC (Nizhny Novgorod) , who took second place, which gave the right to move to the top division - the Russian Football Premier League .
Before the transitional season 2011/2012, FC Saturn (Ramenskoye) refused to participate in the Premier League for financial reasons. But his place was not taken by Nizhny Novgorod FC, which took 3rd place in the FNL championship, but FC Krasnodar , which took 5th place. [2] Nizhny Novgorod CEO Denis Maslov said the club did not receive an invitation to join the Premier League. For the first time in the history of Russian football, two teams from the same city (not including Moscow) could play in the top division - Volga and Nizhny Novgorod. But in the end, two Krasnodar teams played in the Premier League - Kuban and Krasnodar .
In the 2011/2012 season, the club took 3rd place for the second year in a row. At the end of the season, the club got the right to play RFPL-FNL butt matches with the club taking 14th place in the Premier League. But in the sum of two matches the team lost to Volga FC (Nizhny Novgorod).
In June 2012, an agreement was reached on the merger of the club with the Volga club , while retaining the name of the latter. [one]
After depriving the team of professional status, a group of fans decided to revive the club. The sponsor was the ex-president of FC “NN” Alexey Goikhman. The team claimed the city’s winter championship, taking 6th place there. The team consisted mainly of fans, and their ranks were diluted by players such as Nikolai and Sergey Zhilyaev. At the end of the season, Goichmann stopped working with the club. The ex-referee of FIFA Igor Egorov again became the new curator of the club. His next tournament was the summer championship of the city, Nizhny Novgorod confidently won.
In 2014, FC NN played in the Premier League of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in football, taking 8th place. Before the start of the 2015 season, it was announced that there were no funds to finance the club, which is why Nizhny Novgorod withdrew from the competition.
On May 31, 2015, the club’s brand was announced to be preserved by combining it with the Olympiets-DYuSSh club, which plays in 3 leagues [3] . The team, in view of the requirements of the regulations, since reorganization takes place during the current tournament, will be first called FC Nizhny Novgorod-Olympiets, and will play under the brand and logo of FC NN with insignificant intersperses. [four]
According to the results of the season, the club “Nizhny Novgorod-Olympiets-DYUSSH” took 5th place in the IFS “Volga Region” .
In December 2015, the club returned to its previous name and logo. FC Nizhny Novgorod took part in the winter championship of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In May 2016, fans of the Nizhny Novgorod football club turned to the city leadership with a request to revive the club on a professional level. [five]
