History
The museum was founded in 1955 at the initiative of a teacher of history, a fan of ancient culture and art Athanasius Fedorovich Lunev . In the beginning, the museum existed as a public at Parkhomov High School.
The personal collection of fine art that Lunev donated to the museum became the basis of the first exposition. The closest assistants to Athanasius Fedorovich were his students, whom he first united in the Young Historian club , and later in the Rainbow historical and art club. They conducted prospecting work in Parkhomovka and neighboring villages of the region, where they found paintings , icons , antique clothes, embroideries , coins , medals , household items.
The school museum was supported by Kharkov artists who donated about 50 works in the first years of its existence. For a long time he was assisted by the A. Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts , the Hermitage , and the Union of Artists of the USSR . The Village Museum has established close ties with the Russian Museum in Leningrad , the Tretyakov Gallery , the Association of Museums of the Moscow Kremlin . Practical and methodological assistance was provided by the Kharkov Art Museum and the Kharkiv Historical Museum named after N.F. Sumtsov .
For many years, the village museum maintained close relations with famous masters of fine art - Sergey Konyonkov , Vladimir Favorsky , Nikolai Romadin , Eugene Vuchetich , Boris Nemensky , Ivan Izhakevich and many others.
Over time, the Parkhomovsky rural historical and art museum turned into a kind of cultural and educational center. Already in the 1960s, he became famous far beyond the borders of Ukraine. Long-term friendship connects the Parkhomovsky Museum with the Dresden Art Gallery , the Berlin Bode Museum , which have repeatedly invited the "rainbow" to discover masterpieces of world art.
For more than 30 years, the museum has existed on a voluntary basis. Only in 1986 did he receive the status of a state cultural and educational institution and became an autonomous department of the Kharkov Art Museum.
