Velké Slémence ( Slovak: Veľké Slemence , Ukrainian: Great Selments , Hungarian Nagyszelmenc , Rus. Big Selmens ) is a village in the Mikhalovets district of Slovakia near Velky Kapusany .

The population is mainly Hungarian . Until 1946, Slemence was one village, in 1946 the village was divided between the USSR and Czechoslovakia , in the Uzhgorod region there remained a smaller part of the village, called the Small Selmens . The border between Slovakia and Ukraine runs right along the street. Since 2005, a pedestrian crossing has been opened.
In 2009, director Yaroslav Voytyk directed the documentary film Border about the fate of this divided village. [2]
