Andrei Vasilyevich Polyakov (born December 12, 1954 ) is a Russian jurist , the creator of a communicative theory of law. One of the developers of postclassical legal science and integral legal understanding. The author of studies on the history of legal thought in Russia, Doctor of Law , professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Faculty of Law, St. Petersburg State University . Member of several scientific editorial boards, deputy chairman of the dissertation council of St. Petersburg State University, author of more than 170 scientific and methodological works on the theory and philosophy of law, history of legal teachings . Editor-in-chief of the journal Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii. Jurisprudence ”(2011 - 2017). Editor-in-chief of the publication “ Russian Yearbook of the Theory of Law ” (2008-2012).

Biography
In 1976 he graduated from the full-time department of the Law Faculty of Leningrad State University. In 1987 he defended his thesis on "Revived Natural Law in Russia: A Critical Analysis of Basic Concepts." Since 1985 he has been engaged in teaching and research activities. Since 1990 - teacher, and then assistant professor and professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, St. Petersburg State University. In 2002 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Communicative concept of law: Genesis and theoretical and legal justification." The area of scientific interests and teaching is the theory of law and the state, the philosophy of law, the history of the philosophy of law, the history of political and legal teachings of Russia, the methodology of legal research, the theory of law in the context of globalization. In these disciplines, he teaches courses and special courses to students of various forms of education, and supervises the training of graduate students.
