Courchevel

Courchevel ^[1] ( French Courchevel ) is a ski resort in the French Alps ( Savoy department ), located in the center of the Tarantez Valley. It is part of the integrated skiing area “Three Valleys” ( French Les Trois Vallées ). Four resort stations are located at altitudes of 1300, 1550, 1650 and 1750 (commercial name - 1850) meters above sea level. The ski season lasts from late November to early May.

Courchevel can be reached through the airports of Chambery (100 km), Geneva (140 km), Lyon (180 km) or Grenoble (180 km). There is a small airport in Courchevel itself. The length of its runway is only 525 meters, and part of it has a slope of more than 18%, which helps to slow down the aircraft during landing. Landing at this airport is permitted only to specially certified pilots. History Channel has assigned this airport the seventh place in the list of the most dangerous airports in the world.

History

It was founded in 1946 . In 1992, part of the competitions of the 16th Winter Olympic Games took place in Courchevel.

The territory is divided into four main areas: the rural traditional La Praz ( French La Praz ) (1300 m), Courchevel 1550 m, Courchevel 1650 m and Courchevel 1850 m. The slopes of the Courchevel valley are wide and smooth tracks. The most difficult tracks are Jean Blanc and Couloir Emile Allais.

The resort has a large number of expensive shops and more than 65 restaurants. The Forum sports complex offers its visitors an ice rink, bowling , squash , ice karting and a fitness center.

This resort is popular with wealthy people and celebrities from around the world.
