Story
Best-selling author Mike Noonan is experiencing the death of Joe's wife and their unborn child. Nightmares that torment the writer force him to return to his former home on the lake in the west of the American state of Maine , where the couple spent many happy hours. There, he comes close to young widow Matty and her daughter Kira. Mike learns that Matty is in a fierce battle for custody of the girl with his father-in-law Max. Meanwhile, the desire to write instantly returns to Mike, and the inspiration is served by new nightmarish dreams. In addition, the ghost of blues singer Sarah Tidwell dwells in Mike's house. Thanks to her visits, her nightmares and previously unpublished works, Mike learns the truth about himself and the city.

Shooting
Initially, the project originated in the form of a full-length film. It was assumed that the shooting will take place in Maine, but due to problems with taxes in June 2010 the project was closed. In 2011, the channel A & E Network announced that the project will be - this time in the form of a mini-series. Filming began in August 2011 in Nova Scotia. Singer Kelly Rowland was supposed to play Sarah, but in the end, for unknown reasons, she was replaced by Aniku Noni Rose [1] .
Criticism
Stephen Lee from Entertainment Weekly noted that “surprisingly, the plot is dragging on and, despite Brosnan’s obvious replay, the production was rather creepy” [2] . Troy Pattrseon from Slate called the film “too much in the spirit of a bike by the fire,” adding that “the film is trying to convey a positive appeal, but most of the time is busy trying to scare in vain” [3] . CraveOnline observer Blair Marnell rated the film at 6 balls out of 10, noting that “the only obvious drawback of the film is the fact that the author tried too hard to be close to the spirit of King’s work” [4] . Anton Minasov, a reviewer for the World of Fiction magazine, found the picture unremarkable in film, not conveying the essence of the book - the relationship between parents and children. The result was “only a scary fairy tale about a bad deed and its consequences” [5] .
The first part was watched by 3.37 million viewers with an indicator of 1.1 in the category from 18 to 49 years. The second part was watched by 2.99 million viewers with a rating of 0.9 [6] [7] .
