History
These places began to be actively settled in the middle of the 18th century, and by the middle of the 19th century there were over a dozen Manchu settlements.
In 1932, Harbin was occupied by the Japanese, who soon created the puppet state of Manzhougo on the territory of Manchuria. In 1932-1934, a railway was laid here and the Pingfang railway station was built, in the area of which Detachment 731 of the Kwantung Army was located , which was engaged in the development of bacteriological weapons.
Pingfang Urban District was formed in November 1953.

Economics
During the time of Manzhougo, the Japanese built an aircraft repair factory in the village of Pingfang. After the formation of the PRC, aviation and military production was launched on this basis, and at present, the Pingfang District is the industrial center of Harbin.
