History
In 1904, the Holy See established the Patriarchal Vicariate for the faithful of the Maronite Church, who lived in Egypt.
On June 22, 1946, Pope Pius XII issued the Bull Inter praecipuas , which transformed the patriarchal vicariate into a Cairo diocese for the faithful of the Maronite Catholic Church living in Egypt and Sudan.
