Sikayn (Sagayn) is an administrative district in Myanmar in the north-west of the country, between the states of Chin , Kachin , Shan , borders on the Indian states of Nagaland and Manipur . Coordinates: Population - 5,840,971 The population density is 61.73 people / km². The administrative center is the city of Sikine .

History
Sikine became in 1315 the capital of the independent state of Shang , which gained strength after the fall of Pagan . In 1364, the grandson of the ruler moved the capital to the city of Avu .
The cities of Sikayn and Mingun , located near Mandalay , are of great cultural and historical value and are visited by tourists.

Demographics
Burmese prevail in this district in dry regions and along the Mandalay – Myitkyina Railway. Shans and ranks inhabit territories adjacent to the respective national districts. Many nagas inhabit the territory near the Indian border with the state of Nagaland .
Economics
The main occupation is agriculture, mainly rice is grown , wheat , sesame , walnut , cotton and tobacco are also cultivated. Woods are being harvested ( teak ). Many forests have been preserved.
Gold , coal , and salt are being developed; oil is available in small quantities.
