MI2

MI2 stands for English. Military Intelligence, Section 2 ( Section 2 ), is a division of the UK Directorate of Military Intelligence , originally created to process geographic information. MI2a processed information for the Americas (excluding Canada), Spain, Portugal, Italy, Liberia, Tangier and the Balkans. The MI2b department processed information on the Ottoman Empire, Transcaucasia, Arabia, Sinai, Abyssinia and North Africa, with the exception of the French and Spanish possessions, Egypt and Sudan. After World War I, it was redesigned to process intelligence across Russia and Scandinavia. In 1941, it was abolished, and functions transferred to MI3 .
