Biography

In 1967-1971 He was engaged in glider and parachuting in the Chita flying club .

Since 1971 - in the Soviet Army . Since 1975, having graduated from the Kharkov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots , he served as a pilot in the Air Force units ( Northern Group of Forces , 642 Guards Apib 5 VA Odessa Military District ). In 1981, he was transferred to the reserve.

In 1983 he graduated from the school of test pilots and entered the flight test work at the A. Mikoyan Design Bureau . He took to the sky and tested a MiG-AT jet trainer (1996-1998). He participated in tests of supersonic combat aircraft MiG-29 , MiG-29 M, MiG-29 K, MiG-31 , MiG-31 M. Conducted tests at critical flight conditions of the MiG-29, MiG-29 UB and MiG-29M, as well as tests for refueling the MiG-25 RB, MiG-25PD, MiG-31, MiG-29K.

In 1995, he set a world aviation altitude record for a MiG-29 aircraft.

Twice catapulted from emergency aircraft in hopeless situations [3] .

By decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 891 dated August 16, 1992 for the courage and heroism shown during the testing of new aircraft, test pilot Roman Petrovich Taskaev was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation with the Golden Star medal.

Since 1998 - Deputy General Director of the Design Bureau named after A.S. Yakovlev for flight tests.

He tested a jet training aircraft Yak-130 .

On May 28, 2017, together with Oleg Kononenko, he completed the first lift of the MS-21 aircraft [4] . The flight took place at an altitude of 1000 meters at a speed of 300 km / h without cleaning the chassis, its duration was 30 minutes.
