Biography
Born in the family of a CIA employee. He studied at Indiana University in Bloomington , where his classmate was Kevin Kline . At that time they were engaged in staging the play The Three-Penny Opera [1] .
Banks dropped out of Indiana University to tour with a director's group. With a production group, he came to Australia and stayed to work in the theater. In 1974, he moved to Los Angeles , where he made a living by looking for and playing episodic roles on television.
In the movie
Perhaps most of all he is known for playing roles in two films with Eddie Murphy in the lead roles: “ Forty-Eight Hours ” and “ Beverly Hills Police Officer ”. In the first of them, Banks played a character who is a friend of the protagonist and killed by the villain, with which he begins the story of the protagonist. In The Beverly Hills Police Officer, Banks plays the villain, killing a protagonist's friend and starting a story. His other roles were shooting in the films “ Armed and Dangerous ”, “Immortality Corporation” , “ ”, “ Airplane! ”,“ Gremlins ”,“ Kill Me, Kill Yourself ”and“ Under Siege 2: Dark Territory ”, the film“ Bullet ”(2014) with Denny Trejo.

A breakthrough in television shooting for him was his participation in the TV series " Clever Man ", where he played Frank McPike for four years, which led to his nomination for an Emmy Award [2] . At the end of the second season of the show “ Breaking Bad ”, Banks starred as former police officer Mike Ermantrauta, and then head of security at the Los Pollos Hermanos eateries chain and main trustee Guus Fring. In the story, his hero does a lot of different work for Fring, from traveling for money to killing the enemies of Hus. Since then, his character began to appear regularly in the third and fourth seasons, and in the fifth season he becomes one of the main characters in the series. Since 2015, he has been playing a major role in the series “ Better Call Saul, ” which is the spin-off of the series “Breaking Bad”.
Personal life
In 1968, a woman named Marnie became his wife, but two years later they broke up. In December 1990, he married Genner Banks and she still accompanies him at all social events [4] .
